My Fascination Project
I finished my short film after two weeks of filming and editing. It was an enjoyable experience. It is very fulfilling to be able to start with a small idea and turn it into something bigger and meaningful. At first, we only had an idea for the first shot which would be zooming out and rotating around an eye, but we quickly realized that we did not have the filming or editing skills to pull it off correctly. I had a few songs that I considered adding, but I used the free music from my editing software since they fit too.
The film, Perspective, starts with muted colors and also has shots that hold on less aesthetically pleasing objects, such as a large transformer and a trash can. It also has elements of nature that would be integrated more as time moved on. The first parts of it were when it was near technology or when the trees had lost most of their leaves. Around halfway through, there is a panning shot of some bushes with more color, representing change with the first camera movement in the film but also an addition of more color.
In the second half, nature is much more emphasized and the colors are more saturated and vibrant. The last two shots came from a cross country meet that I went to, supporting North Central. I liked the final shot the most because it was similar to going up a hill and finding the light at the end of the tunnel. It reinforced the theme of changing the way you view the world and persevering through tough times.
